Laser lipo is a revolutionary treatment for removing excess fatty tissue from the body. This is useful for body parts which are usually resistant to exercises and dieting. It is also known as Smart Lipo or Laser Liposuction. In this treatment, lasers are used to melt the fatty tissues instead of sucking it like in normal surgical liposuction methods. The melted fats is then slowly thrown out of the system through your body's normal metabolism.

In normal surgical liposuction methods, the outcome of the treatment usually depends on the skill of the surgeon. The surgeon has to manually scrape and suck the fat out of the skin after making incisions. These leave small scars and is done under general anesthesia which can be a bit complicated. The recovery of this could take anywhere between a few weeks and a few months depending upon the body part and size of treated area.

But in laser lipo, the fat is dissolved instead of being sucked out. The liquefied fat then leaves the body using small tubes. This procedure is done without using anesthesia therefore you save on this cost which can be substantial. The smart lipo is somewhat less expensive than a normal surgical liposuction.

However, laser lipo or smart lipo is useful for patients who want only a small amount of fat to be removed from the body like from neck and saddlebags. Since the treated area is small, surgeon is able to sculpt the area better. In most cases, the patient is standing while the surgeon performs smart lipo on them. The surgeon is able to provide better shape and contour to the body in this kind of surgery. As the procedure is going on, the laser beam tightens the skins as well therefore bleeding is stopped and there is very little bruising. Also, there is no skin sagging since there treated area is very small.

However, if the area to be treated is not small, the patients are often advised by the doctors to go for a normal surgical liposuction method. Patients with large amount of excess fat are not good candidates for laser lipo or smart lipo. These types of patients need to go through normal liposuction and maybe they can come back after liposuction surgery to get a laser lipo done for 'touch ups' which means fine toning of the skin after getting excess fat removed.

Laser lipo is generally considered to be a very safe technique. They are considered safe due to various reasons. Firstly, since the procedure is done using only local anesthesia, the side effects and complications related to general anesthesia are avoided and it also reduces the cost. Secondly, the tumescent technique used in the method results in little or no blood loss therefore the recovery time is very small. And during this method, the cannulas required in smart lipo require only very tiny incisions thereby avoiding any scars and lowering the risks of infections from bruising and cuts. Usually, laser lipo is an outpatient procedure therefore you don't have to get admitted to the hospital. You just take an appointment before hand and get the procedure done and come out of the clinic. You should be able to go back to work on the very next day. There is absolutely no down time at all which is a great benefit.

If you are thinking of getting a laser lipo or smart lipo done on your body, make sure that you find a suitable surgeon. The surgeon should be qualified and experienced enough in this liposuction technique. Since the liposuction costs are more and generally not covered by health insurance you need to make sure that you don't go for someone provide cheap liposuction which could be dangerous to your body. It is better that you do some research on internet and find a god doctor in your area when you are looking to get laser lipo done.
